Minding The Mantel

Christmas may be behind us, but winter is far from over. Chase away the post-holiday blues by keeping the fire roaring, the slippers warm, and the mantel festive with a few of these ideas. While Santa and his reindeer might be back in storage, it’s still simple to celebrate the spirit of the season.
Colors – When selecting items to highlight your mantel, select a variety of textures and colors in whites, creams and browns to bring a warm wintry feeling to the fireplace that is decidedly not Christmas. Cream colored candles and small pine cones work great.

Personal touches – The mantel is a wonderful place to display family heirlooms or beautiful new holiday gifts. Monogrammed plates, candle stands or trays make wonderful centerpieces not only for the table, but for the mantel as well.
Winter landscapes – Small pieces of artwork depicting winter scenes, or specially selected photographs from ski trips, sleigh rides and other chilly outdoor adventures will remind everyone what makes winter just as special as season as those that follow.
In need of a mantel to decorate? The Arbor Hill Mantel is at once rustic and modern, with classic mission style accents, a rich chestnut finish and oil rubbed bronze decorative accents. It is composed of solid wood, and is a beautiful centerpiece for any style home.
