Minding The Mantel

Christmas may be behind us, but winter is far from over. Chase away the post-holiday blues by keeping the fire roaring, the slippers warm, and the mantel festive with a few of these ideas. While Santa and his reindeer might be back in storage, it’s still simple to celebrate the spirit of the season.
Colors – When selecting items to highlight your mantel, select a variety of textures and colors in whites, creams and browns to bring a warm wintry feeling to the fireplace that is decidedly not Christmas. Cream colored candles and small pine cones work great.

Personal touches – The mantel is a wonderful place to display family heirlooms or beautiful new holiday gifts. Monogrammed plates, candle stands or trays make wonderful centerpieces not only for the table, but for the mantel as well.
Winter landscapes – Small pieces of artwork depicting winter scenes, or specially selected photographs from ski trips, sleigh rides and other chilly outdoor adventures will remind everyone what makes winter just as special as season as those that follow.
In need of a mantel to decorate? The Arbor Hill Mantel is at once rustic and modern, with classic mission style accents, a rich chestnut finish and oil rubbed bronze decorative accents. It is composed of solid wood, and is a beautiful centerpiece for any style home.

Beat The Holiday Hustle and Bustle

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can be addictive. The mistletoe-laced parties, gift wrapping marathons and cookie exchanges are, for many, essential to achieving that ideal holiday spirit. It’s also exhausting. By the time December 24 rolls around, many are more likely to find themselves ripping into their new Christmas Snuggies and retiring to the couch than hitting up the caroling circuit.

Intimate, peaceful meals are the anecdote. Spend at least one special dinner or brunch of the holiday season among just your closest family and friends—4-6 people max—so everyone can gab about presents and party gossip without the added stress of ensuring that the pie looks as delicious as it tastes

Make it happen with the Arlington dining set. It’s the perfect setting for intimate meal times, especially when perched within sight of the stately tree. Warm and inviting, this ideally-scaled dining table can expand to comfortably seat six guests (inherently supporting a laid back holiday line-up). Its turn-of-the-century traditional design is paired with a weathered brown finish. The chairs boast an intricately carved design in the back, but the seats are covered in easy to care for faux brown leather.

Like your intimate, low-key holiday hang out, the Arlington is classic, but cozy—perfect for roast turkey, chocolate pie, or even Chinese take-out.

A Treasure Chest Of Living

Tries
Renowned 20th century French architect Le Corbusier once wrote that “the home should be a treasure chest of living.” At Hillsdale Furniture, we agree.

Our homes are where we celebrate birthdays, winning games and career accomplishments. It’s where we relax with a good book and get a good night’s sleep (most of the time). At home, we put our feet up and recover from the daily grind.

At Hillsdale, we don’t believe you should have to compromise the quality of your daily life in order to afford a beautiful place to come home to. We create beautiful pieces you can treasure for generations, without sacrificing a treasured fortune. Here, it’s all about smart design, and even smarter buys.
Lyndon Lane Dining
